Matthew Berry Nope, not a typo. Fantasy fantasy is the solution to the dilemma many information-hungry managers face each and every day: which fantasy “expert” do I listen to? Well it goes without saying that the team here at DraftPerfect will not kowtow to any of the following fancy schmancy analysts that work for mega search engines or world wide leaders in sports. Dollar for dollar, I’d put our staff up against anyone, especially when it comes to draft strategy. It’s no secret that Yahoo! and ESPN harbor two of the more accessible and popular fantasy sports syndicates. Now it’s time that someone held them accountable. It’s time that someone took a look at how good their “analysts” really are…

Spring Training, NFL Free Agency, and Then Some

Yesterday kicked off Day 1 of NFL free agency and, as always, it was an extremely busy day. Many of the NFL’s elite found new homes and some (Vince Wilfork) ended up staying put. Additionally, spring training is in full throttle and fantasy players are beginning to figure out who may or may not be solid draft picks for 2010. And to think, if March is already this entertaining, imagine how much better it will be come March Madness?

Sometimes bargain hunting isn’t about finding the clearance special watch that lasts for 25 years through thick and thin but rather finding a Rolex on sale. Cole Hamels is the latter. Hamels, a fantasy darling after his epic 2008 World Series, was more than a disappointment for many fantasy owners in 2009. If you drafted Hamels as your first pitcher in the 3^rd or 4^th round last March, your team might have been crippled for the entire season. Tim Tebow this… summer of 2010 that… all of these storylines are simply getting very old and over-discussed, yet the most frustrating part is that they won’t be fully developed for months. As one of my good friends pointed out last week (in an extremely and unnecessarily upset manner that actually made this quote quite funny), “the Olympics are going on right now and all Stuart Scott and company can talk about is (expletive) Tim Tebow’s throwing motion.” Well put.
